Phillies/Red Sox Series Preview

I’m just going to do a quick post about tonight’s game.  Tonight’s pitching matchup is very intriguing.  Cole Hamels (4-2, 4.29) faces John Lackey (4-2, 4.86).  Both pitchers were expected to be valuable assets to their ballclubs.  Hamels struggled early in the season, but seems to be getting better with each start.  Lackey was the prize free agent acquisition by the Red Sox.  He received the big contract, but has a high ERA so far this season.  This game will be a good test for both pitchers.  Both Hamels and Lackey will be facing some of the most talented lineups in baseball.  The key to this series is for the Phillies to limit the production of David Ortiz.  Ortiz has been hot lately hitting .417 with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs in the last week.  The Phillies pitching staff will have to try to go after Big Papi and limit his chances for run production.  It should be a very entertaining series.  I’m very excited to see Roy Halladay face the Red Sox lineup.  This series could go either way, so I’m going to shy away from making a prediction.
