Werth Powers Phillies

Jayson Werth led the Phillies with two solo home runs in their 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks.  Werth hit the game winning home run in the 9th inning.  Raul Ibanez also hit a solo home run in the game.  The Phillies offense was very stagnant for most of the game.  The top four hitters were a combined 0-for-16.  But Jayson Werth came through in the clutch when the Phillies needed runs.

The Phillies pitching was very solid tonight.  Nelson Figueroa pitched five innings and gave up two runs on five hits.  Figueroa surrendered a two run home run to Kelly Johnson in the 5th inning.  He was pulled from the game due to his high pitch count.  The Phillies bullpen was also very good.  Chad Durbin pitched two scoreless innings and Jose Contreras struck out the side in the 8th inning.  Aside from the Braves game, Contreras has pitched very well this season.  Ryan Madson came in the 9th inning for the save.  He allowed one baserunner, but was able to record the save.
