Lidge Receives Cortisone Shot

Brad Lidge is experiencing some inflammation in his surgically repaired elbow.  To deal with this, Lidge received a cortisone shot in his right elbow.  He had two surgeries in the offseason, so could’ve been expected.  Lidge has only pitched in a few minor league games so far this spring anyway.  He isn’t expected to be back with the big club until mid-April at the earliest.  Lidge and JC Romero will be sticking around in Florida when the team heads north this weekend.  If the Phillies can get by the first month without these two, then it will be for the better.  They don’t need to rush either of them back and risk any setbacks.  The bullpen is the weakest point right now and there is no need to try and hamper it anymore than it already is.
