Well this is why the Phillies traded for Roy Halladay. Halladay dominated the Yankees in his brief spring training debut. Halladay pitched 2 innings and gave up no hits with 3 strikeouts. His location was amazing. He threw only 3 balls as opposed to 20 strikes. That is simply remarkable. Granted the Yankees weren’t trotting out their all-star lineup, but Halladay’s pitching performance was excellent nonetheless.
The Phillies were down 2-1 going into the 9th inning. The Phillies bats came alive in the 9th inning. With one out, Paul Hoover doubled and drove in Quentin Berry to tie the game. Hoover advanced to third on the throw. Wilson Valdez won the game with an infield single that deflected off of Yankees reliever Wilkins Arias. The Phillies notched their first win 3-2.
