Flyers Acquire Leino

The Philadelphia Flyers added some depth at their forwards on Saturday.  They acquired Ville Leino from the Detroit Red Wings for Ole-Kristian Tollefsen and a 2011 5th round pick.  In 42 games this season, Leino has 4 goals and 3 assists.  This move allows Danny Syvret or Ryan Parents to return to the lineup when they are healthy.  Tollefsen was often injured and never really got going with the Flyers.  He was signed as a mere 7th defenseman in the offseason.

Leino has some promise.  He was a highly regarded prospect that never really converted to the NHL.  However, his first goal is an absolute highlight reel.  He has shown flashes of brilliance in his brief career as a Red Wing.  Leino was even named MVP of the Finnish League in 2007-2008 posting 77 points in 55 games.  Leino’s Flyer debut is uncertain, but he will not suit up for the Flyers in Minnesota.
