RJ Umberger sure reminded the Flyers why they shouldn’t have traded him.
Umberger had 2 goals for the Columbus Blue Jackets, but the Flyers still overcame that and won 5-3. In his second game back, Ray Emery was very solid, stopping 25 of 28 shots. Jeff Carter also had a good night, scoring 2 goals and coming close to the hat trick on many occassions. The fans certainly were ready to toss their free orange hats onto the ice if Carter had gotten a 3rd goal. Chris Pronger, Danny Briere, and Daniel Carcillo also notched goal for the Flyers in the victory.
It was nice to see the Flyers get back to their winning ways after getting manhandled in DC on Sunday. Emery seemed to step his game up and really looks like he is fully recovered from his abdomen injury. This win now puts Philadelphia in 9th place in the Eastern Conference with 51 points. They are only 1 point behind the Islanders for the 8th spot and only 3 points behind the Bruins for the 7th position. With this team obviously having turned their season around, they could definitely finish the season in the 5th or 6th spot in the conference. That fact is absolutely remarkable considering where this team was a month. They have turned it around for sure.
