Reliever Chad Durbin avoided arbitration by agreed to a 1 year deal worth $2.125 million. Durbin was 2-2 with a 4.39 ERA in 69.2 innings for the Phillies last season. This contract seems fair for a player like Durbin. He is an effective in middle relief and usually doesn’t kill the ballclub. He has very good in his first season with the Phillies posting a 2.87 ERA. He is a guy who can come into the ballgame and eat up an inning or two if the starter is pulled early. The contract is deserving and hopefully Durbin can return to his 2008 form this season.
